Christopher O'Connor
My name is Christopher I was born with a disability called Spina Bifida which means I am a full time wheelchair user. I work part time at the National Sports Campus Blanchardstown where I am employed as a fitness instructor and I do fitness programs for everyone from able bodied clients to people with physical disabilities. I also teach spinning classes verbally.
Last year I set up a class called "Parafit" this runs 2 times per week: Tuesday evenings for Teens to Adults and on Wednesdays for Children to Teens. It is an upper body circuit class with different muscle groups being targeted. The class consists of a Warm Up of the exercises in the main phase and then we start the Main Phase. The Parafit classes received great publicity when RTE recorded a session to be featured on the News.
Christopher will be teaching Parafit at the Got Your Back Main Event 4.30 - 5.30pm
Parafit:
" Parafit is a fantastic class for improving Mobility, Strength, Functional Movement, Muscle Tone, BMI & more! It is an Aerobic based class for wheelchair users and on the Got Your Back Main Event day we will be completing a Warm Up followed by the Main Phase where we will be using visualisations to engage the targeted muscle groups and to get the heart rates pumping!
I will also be educating the class on correct technique whilst exercising and explaining the benefits of why Parafit is a must for wheelchair users and people with physical disabilities as well as able bodied clients and their families who want a class that is inclusive to all abilities, fun and a brilliant workout!". - Christopher
